Congress Heights Recreation Center
A hub in Southeast DC, the Congress Heights Recreation Center includes playgrounds, tennis courts, etc. for the use of residents in the District. Biohabitats – an eco-restoration/conservation group – turned uncontrollable waterflow into a functional stream system. Biohabitats added features including constructed riffles and a bed of sand to clean stormwater, and a vegetated channel to filter stormwater away from parking spaces. Connelly supported this project drilling soil test borings in accordance with the District’s stormwater management guidelines.
